PTO MEETING MINUTES 9-13-11
Introductions-
Past board members introduced themselves and explained what their positions entailed.
Marcia opened for nominating board members – Marcia Moved to carry the vote until next month Cindie DeWolf second. Post on Facebook and website.
Mrs. Cheney report Target contacted us last week and gave us $500 in free books.
Pete Vance (interim Vice Principal) introduced a couple of assemblies that are coming up- anti bullying assembly (Gabe and Izzy the Dog) Gabe is in a wheelchair talks about what she went thru as a kid.
Mrs. Cheney also spoke to the fact that 4 O’Clock meeting time works best. The PTO has tried several different times over the years and attendance seems to be the same no matter the time.
Marcia’s President report
Heritage day 10-4 Farms has a game to run. There is a volunteer for 10-1 need someone 1-4
Spirit Wear- Bonnie Kussmaul coordinated with Farms last year for all spirit wear. We did 2 or 3 sales last year. We will keep spirit wear reasonably priced, keep it with just Hartland Eagles but looking at a new logo design this year.
Beth Krause/ Jill Rivet are fall fundraising coordinators. The assembly is Friday the 16th, this is a catalogue fundraiser, it is a hugely successful event for Farms. Out fundraiser has bought things like Floyd the skeleton for our Science teachers..
Q “is there a budget” Answer from Marcia Peterson “we will have it finalized in the next couple of weeks”
Student directory info will be coming home soon, if you DO NOT want your student included in the directory fill out the paper and send it back.
Banana Brothers – post link on facebook page- fresh produce company go down to Eastern Market and deliver to your door.Anyone who orders from then and puts Farms in the note they give us 10% back and they waive the $3 handling fee for you.
Is there a table out on Curriculum night for parents? Can we put Banana Bros flyer out on it. Farms volunteer forms. Curriculum night tonight 6:30pm-7:30pm. Marcia will set up board for fundraiser on Wed night.
Play 60 need volunteers/ girls from high school /
Teacher requests- software for smart boards Marcia motions to approve, Cindie seconds $220 to Danita Baker.
Mrs. Ostervick requests 2 things- school provides Time for kids, she can go on to Time for kids website and download quizzes ect. only 30 copies/ usually have 60 kids. Worked with Keely to provide 60 more $242.19 for whole year. Motion to approve Cindie DeWolf/ Marcia Peterson seconds.
Mrs. Ostervick’s second request-an email came to Social Studies group about a Native American presentation for 5th graders. They would need 15 presentations for everyone to be part of the program total $1500. Social Studies does not have a lot of cool presentations this is a rarity. She would need to know by end of September if we could provide the funds. Pete Vance asked if there was a website where we could research further? Mrs. Ostervick will get a couple of references. Bonnie Kussmaul motioned that if after phone call and references check out for Mrs. Ostervick to approve amount Kirsten Eichorn seconds.
Renay Maclean’s report- Santa’s holiday shop is filled chairperson and 2 helpers/ We used FunServices last year – price range was too wide $2-$7. Talked about going to Dollar Store, mentioned to Tia (chair)
We need help on several committees this year. Will put the word out on the Facebook and the WebsiteCommitees
Mikki is doing assemblies, is Lee Gehan-doing the Birthday board? Renay will check with her, Boxtops needs a Chair, VG’s needs a Chair, Spring Bookfair is Michelle Caaneart doing? Spirit Store needs a chair, Teacher Appreciation needs a chair, Popcorn needs volunteers
Cindie’s report- if anyone has anything they need to get the work out on the Facebook page is up and running, just email me the info. Play 60 needs volunteers we have two high school students who want to start a Play 60 club after school for students to focus on healthy eating and exercise. Kay Simmons and Kristi Roy would like to help. We will need at least 2 parents at every meeting, and the students wanted to meet at least once a month.
