Welcome and Intros: Michelle Hutchinson presented, School Board. Building and Site, curriculum policy, technology, LRN legislature relations network…follows legislation that happens in Michigan that affects Hartland. Bill for anti-bullying-we are already covered. Typically follows education funding. School aide fund, protected money by constitution of Michigan cannot be touched except for education for Michigan. Last year had trouble balancing their budget. Last year they transferred 206 million from school aide to higher education specifically community education then transferred to general fund; called it a surplus. This same action could happen again this year- according to rumors. We could see another “surplus” of money. We need to get to our reps and we need to get to the other districts who voted for this bill. Give information/statement to Cindie to get on the website and Facebook page. Information about what happened last year and what could happen again this year. It’s a community issue, not just a “people with kids” (parent) issue. IF they decide to include community and university funding into school aide Fund (SAF) it could result in a $1000. Reduction PER STUDENT! From the last year outcome, it reduced funding per student by $165.00.
